Xenia
Rich in traditional values, Xenia blends the preservation of its heritage with a progressive attitude. With a population of over 25,000, Xenia is friendly, people/family-oriented, and known for its hospitality. As the county seat, the city is strategically located between Greene County’s suburbanized western half and the rural areas to the east.
More than beautiful buildings, the downtown is host to a variety of retailers and restaurants, from specialty baked goods to antiques, and coffee shops to eclectic furnishings and gifts; Xenia provides the many benefits of living in a smaller community. However, if looking for a taste of amenities found in the “big cities”, Xenia is centrally located between Dayton to its west, Cincinnati to its south, and Columbus to its northeast.
Once renowned as a railroad hub, the City of Xenia preserves its historic past through its extensive system of paved, multi-use trails that connect neighborhoods throughout the community. The Greene County rail-to-trail system is part of the nation’s largest paved trail network. The paved, multi-use trails are enjoyed by cyclists, walkers, hikers, dog owners, and skaters. Informally known as the Biking Capital of the Midwest, the City of Xenia is home to Greene County Parks & Trails’ Greene Trails Cycling Classic, an annual fundraiser that attracts hundreds of cyclists from across the nation.
Beyond the outdoor recreation, the Xenia YMCA offers fitness and swimming programs for Xenia residents. Enjoy the two indoor pools, basketball courts, and indoor walking track. In addition, they have specially designed programs for teens.
For the senior members of the community, Xenia Adult Recreation & Services Center offers daily recreational and educational activities. The Center also provides transportation, outreach, in-house, and home-delivered meals, homemaker service, and case management.
Community-minded and rich in heritage.
