The City of Fairborn offers many amenities including 18 parks, wetland reserves, and a classically structured downtown area. Fairborn is home to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, one of the largest Air Force bases in the world as well as Wright State University. As the gateway to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and home to Wright State University, Fairborn gains economic strength from two of the largest employers in the Miami Valley region.  

The City of Fairborn has a special commitment to recreational areas. The Parks & Recreation Division maintains over 753 acres of parkland consisting of 22 parks including a nature reserve and the Wright Brothers Huffman Prairie Bikeway.

Entertainment is not hard to find in Fairborn from one of the many summer concerts in the park or downtown to a national touring concert or performance at The Wright State University Nutter Center.

On the third Saturday in September, the United States Air Force Marathon, honoring the birth of the USAF, is held each year with 13,500 participants coming from all 50 states and 10 foreign countries. A favorite among many runners, many come back each year for the race.
